new metal halide...white growth?

I upgraded and added a 150W MH on my 96 W PC and the tank looks great....but some of my corraline algae is turning white....is this a bad sign?? should I move the halide higher?? its already about 6 inches above my tank

Bleaching from the more intense light.
The bleached layer will shed and a new layer will grow or it'll just grow on top of the bleach layer. Might be a different color though. Lighter color.

You might want to consider raising the light alittle bit: 12" and slowly drop it down to what you want. That way it doesnt stress out the inhabitant in the tank. If you dont have any then dont bother. The coraline will bleach and a new layer will grow.

Or use layers of fiberglass window screening.
