New skimmer question...crappy instructions

Nocturnal

Habitual Line Stepper
Just installed a new NW Octopus. Curious as to how high I should have the water level. I have it now right at the top of the water chamber right at where it begins to neck down. Also, how long for a break-in period with these? Any idea?

TIA

I have my NW in about 7 inches of water. I think most recommend 6-8 inches of water. I also set the water height in the skimmer where the cup connects to the body. If you rinse it in white vinegar it should break in a bit faster. Can take a week or more with a new skimmer.

I have mine in 8" of water. NW200, gate and mesh. Works awesome.

It did take a week to break in.

do you have clearance under the stand to put the skimmer on a 2" platform?

I have exactly 25" from the base of the stand to the bottom of the tank. Looks like I'm gonna have to shop for another skimmer. :(
