New skimmmer vinegar bath????

So I purchased a new skimmer and have been researching online about giving a new skimmer a vinegar bath to clean it and so it will break in sooner. So people say yes do it, some say it is a myth. I feel safer giving it a bath in vinegar; what do you think? If I do give it a "bath" how long should I do it? Thanks for the input.

I break mine down every couple months and let all the components soak in water and vinegar for a few hours before scrubbing. It helps remove the algae build up.

I gave my skimz sn123 a vinegar bath it it started skimming dark nasty stuff in the same day.

There is nothing with giving it a bath.. I would assume a few hours is good enough.
I made a mistake of leaving my Tunze powerhead in Vinegar too long, the wire is kind of wrinkle a bit.. Not 100% if that is because of Vinegar or it is just a coincident.
