New to the hobby

Difficult question to answer without knowing what you hope for or expect. If you're sure your interest is genuine and you see being in it for some time, I'd recommend avoiding cheap or "entry level" equipment. This will be especially true in regard to lights. Do you have a tank set up now?

read a lot of build threads. figure out what you want before you buy a ton of stuff.

Find a friend that successfully reefs and ask questions. if not then use google and watch videos on YT...BRS has some good ones.

I agree with buying good equipment. I spent years fighting mini crashes because my doser wasn't working correctly. I also recommend quarantine tanks for new arrivals.
