Nick's Miracle Build

Looking good! How are you liking the radiums?

I think I'm going to like it a lot. When I first saw the 20K rating, I was thinking I should get more white-ish T5s to compensate. But I'm glad I went with the blue plus and super actinic on the T5s because the Radiums are very crisp white. I think with the Radiums alone, it looks more white the Phoenix 14K. But it could be that the rocks are white during the first couple weeks. The rocks are getting more colors on them so we'll see how it turns out.
I have video coming up.

Video updated.
Watch in 4K!

Sweet!

Bill,
It was very nice to meet you.
I started the transfer Friday night of LPS. I Bayer dipped everything during the transfer so it took longer and more work. But I do this for all incoming corals and during tank transfer. The LPS were done Friday night. Saturday was the major work. The SPS had to be extracted from the rocks(I didn't use any of the old liverocks) and then dipped in a 5 gallons tank. I can only fit a couple of the large colony at a time. Sunday, I transferred all the fish and by Sunday night, the Elos tank was empty and cleaned out and posted for sale.

Heard more about your tank at recent RI Area meet up and glad to catch your video. Looks awesome. That MH/t5 is pretty and dimensions/rock & livestock configurations make this a beautiful reef. Great video!

Excellent tank, I like that you have a low light side and high light side for two different groups of corals. Should look awesome when it's filled out. But I have to say.. I wasn't sure what was up with your avitar and name but once I heard your voice.... you really are the turtles kid grown up!!!!

Thanks guys. I was joking with the wife that we should paint it purple. It looks quite nice. She gave me the stare....
Color picking, furniture picking, and decors, are not my areas. I don't touch that. The last time I came home with a light fixture for the stairway, the wife told me to return it. And I did...

I just finished reading this post and I couldn't help to laugh at this, way to funny every time I reread it I start to laugh, my favorite part is. the wife told me to return it. And I did". Nick great job seriously.

Nick have you ever seen this on youtube "Volcano Tank 032610" one of my favorite salt water displays.

Ok nick everyone's being too nice to you here.....

We need to talk about your trimmed overflow access (I've told him this many times in private) it makes the tank appear as if it was dropped in front of a doorway. I mean no fung shui here.

I agree access is important but I want to see a removable panel here not a trimmed doorway.

I know many of you are thinking "Chris be nice to little nicky" but we've been friends for a while now and I know blunt and harsh is what nick likes and respects....

I mean you can do whatever you want on the operation side.. have 10 powers trips hanging over a bucket of salt water with nothing but the cord holding it up but the finished side has to be perfect

That tank was very interesting

Chris,
Thanks for the honest opinion. Similar to every winter, I tend to slack off and not build anything. I also have many other hobby that is more suitable for winter.
The build is nowhere done and not by any mean final. My goal was to transfer the Elos into the Miracle by the first snow fall. And that was that.
The plan is to build a canopy over the tank that extend all the way to the ceiling and to the wall so the access doorway to the back of the tank is completely covered. I also plan to add more T5s once the canopy is finished to light up the sides of the tank a bit.
As of right now, I'm more focus on getting the system to be stable by adding my dosing unit in conjunction with the ca reactor. And plumbed a refugium to the tank. But more importantly, sustain the life in the tank.
This tank build is probably overdue for an update. I'll get on it this weekend. To be honest, I used to like to take pictures when the tank is smaller. It seems like it takes about half a day to go around the tank and take pictures of everything.
