Nitrate Reduction Methods

Effing crap! Cleaned up the whole PM box! Is there anyway I can retrieve some of them back?

LOL. I wasn't cracking on your suggestion. I was attempting to say that there's NO WAY Nick would have something like that near his display. :D Unless of course, it had "Elos" factory engraved on the side of it. LOL! HAHA! I'm sorry Nick. It feels like "Pick on Nick" day for me. :D :p

It's all good Paul. I saw Nick's set up when he had that monster efflo and should have known better. He is kind of a "neat-nic". :)

If dosing the tank does not work, I will dose myself for sure!
I skipped the Vodka and picked up Brighwell Biofuel instead. It's suppose to be just like Vodka but less potential for mistakes(I think). It is still sitting on the counter and waiting for more research to be done.

I picked up a couple small frag of sps as well to try with the new frequent water changes. I'm going to try a 20% waterchange on weekly. Not sure how long this new practice will last. :D
If not, I'll give the biofuel a try.

Remember, it's for dosing the tank, not yourself. :p ;)

Start dosing yourself. I had 13hrs of sleep last night.

Eh, I don't do well with vodka. :o I don't even drink it anymore. The last time I got sick drinking, I knocked off an entire 250 ml bottle by myself. I only drink socially, etc. about a dozen times a year. But when I do, I stay away from vodka.

Give me a call if you ever start dosing with rum. ;)

Keep up posted on how this works out... I have the same issue with my tank and cant grow crap. The last softie I tried to grow shriveled and died in three days (Pulsing Xenia). All the other parameters have been correct except for Nitrate--its been running 20-40ppm. I tried dosing with sugar but it creeps back up in a few days. My fuge cant grow cheato as they always die off in a few weeks. So if this works, I'm jumping on board.

How old is your tank? My current tank is less than a year old but I've been using the sand from my first tank which is over 6 years ago. Not sure if this is an old tank syndrome problem or not.
It was doing great until I had a tank crash in January and can't seem to get the tank back up. I'm tempting to do new sand swap with a cup of the old sand to seed.

My current tank is about 3 months old but the content was transferred from a tank which is almost two years old. In the old tank, things were doing okay. Currently I havent seen any coraline growth on my rocks... and not that I'm complaining, but I dont even see any algae growth as well. Lights are 3x250 MH + 2x96 PC. I do tend to overfeed :o but I also have a skimmer thats rated 500g (my system is 350g). I like my fishes nice and fat. :D

The colors in my sps tank had washed out and did not look good at all. Over the course of 3-4 months everything has bounced back though. I think I can attribute to vacuuming lots of nasty mulm / detritus out of sand, and larger, more frequent water changes.
