No, ORA is on the East Cost just North of Jupiter and West Palm Beach in Ft. Pierce, Fla.They are Gulf Coast right?
90% of our seafood that the U.S. consumes comes from he gulf...
That's a bit of an exaggeration but hopefully this will be a big push towards farmed shrimp, a market that is currently available but hugely underused. It should also pressure farmed snapper which is currently in the making. I am mostly concerned with the grouper market which is much bigger in the south but they are terrible to raise in captivity because of how messy and inefficient they are at eating. The best thing that can come out of this disaster is a push towards sustainability not only in seafood but also energy.
Even though people are bashing Obama I think it is better if the gov stays out of decision making. Just heard from someone on the site that the reason the mud/cement thing failed was because the gov wanted to wait for 2 hours after the mud went down -- BP wanted to do cement right away. But they waited and it failed. Would it have failed anyway? Who knows but why is the gov in there? What do they know about deep sea drilling? AM I not supposed to say these things? I am not being political .... just let the experts do their job. What the gov could have done is change the law in this situation -- make an exception -- so BP would not lose the lease for capping the well. That's why they are not shutting it down.
I don't have too many Caribbean corals in my tank, just remember that seeding areas with non-native species isn't always the best course of action.
And trying to get them to cherry pick for you is like pulling teeth. Plus their sites are often out of range of many of the more interesting species. If you have any caribbean corals its most likely gorgonians or cup corals as there is a ban on the collection of Caribbean stony corals. You can only get stony corals that are attached to aquacultured rock.
