Oyster eggs?

I saw an add in Coral magazine for DT's oyster eggs as zooplankton food for SPS corals and other organisms. It had an endorsement from Borneman.
Has anyone seen it in stores?
Has anyone tried it?


And, as competition - has anyone seen their SPS corals feed on Cyclopeeze?

Do you see SPS corals grabbing tiny pieces of the mix?

I see the polyps retract sometimes during feeding of goo , cyclopeeze or other very small (micro) type food but I have never actually seen a polyp take the food. My eyes are just not that good anymore.

Moe, John at Fin and Feather in Groton CT. carries it. He told me about it, and he said the polp extension was amazing. So I did some reading from a pamphlet he had, like you mentioned it is recommended by Eric B. So, I picked some up...at 23 bucks though it is alittle pricey, but you don't need much...when I added it to the tank the polps extended almost right away, and most corals had their feeders out. it seemed that the liquified base of the eggs causes the corals to know/trigger a feeding response...I will be trying this over cyclopze for a month or so and see if I notice a change...hope this helps

Moe all of my Acro's eat cyclopeeze, the milli's seem to like it the most. The Monti's that are in my tank don't seem to take any.....

Although I have seen Acros eat Cyclopeeze, I cannot say I've seen any change in growth rate. I personally don't think it matters much whether you feed most SPS or not. Some LPS can benefit a lot more from feeding, but they usually can take larger food, you just have to feed at night when the polyps are out.

I've not seen the DT's new product. If it were truely alive I'd be more interested in using it to raise larval fish that are too small to take rotifers.

I am trying them out now. I cannot say I have seen any amazing result. The corals seem to react similar to feeding cyclopeze.

i have been using the oyster eggs for about 4 months. corals seem to perk up when i put them in. i do feed cyclo pheeze also and marine snow. i alternate between them.

Are the oyster eggs smaller than the average cyclop-eeze particle? Because I've only seen certain Acros and SPS (those with larger polyps) eat cyclop eeze. I wonder if the eggs are smaller and more easily consumed by Montipora, and other smaller polyped acros?

I am on my second container of the oyster eggs, I call it spluge ( I know, not a real word but it looks more like a sperm thing to me)... they are a lot smaller that the CE, you cannot really see anything, it actually just kinda turns opaque or milky-like (and a little goes a long way) It really makes my sun coral open up
Both PCR and Atlantis in Portalnd ME have carried it for a while.....

I have been using DT's oyster eggs for about 6 months and still can't tell you much , the fish go nuts just like when you feed cyclopleeze but IMO I think I'll stick with the cyclopleeze and DT's plankton till someone can do a study on the eggs .

I bought mine at Tropic Isle - quite expensive, but the corals do seem to like it.

Anybody seen a positive result with the oyster eggs over phyto or cyclops yet?

I went through most of a container and when I reflect on the experience I don't know to what I acheived. The eggs are too small for fish, unlike cyclops, and it seems like a reef system would oxidize them much faster than living phyto products.

I can say that regular use of phyto-feast and/or my own coral brew helps the growth of my fan worms. But I can't put a value on the oyster eggs yet.
