Pendant for frag tank?

Mrs Fish

obsessed!
Was talking to Paula O. today ... and she said my corallife pro clip-on metal halide probably isn't enough long term for my frag tank. The tank is heavy on SPS frags. The tank is a 30g - 30" long, 12 wide, 18 deep. Can anyone suggest a pendant that I might easily be able to drill into the ceiling (will take volunteers in exchange for beer!!). Not sure if a 250w 14,000k or 10,000k would work .. or whether I should go with a 400w? I realize there's probably only room for one pendant.

Advice gratefully received ...

Have you thought of calling Aquarium Gallery and asking Brendan. He's a wealth of information on what your needs for lighting would be. While you're there he may have the lighting system there and you'd save with no taxes. Do you have help to suspend it from the ceiling?

Just my 2 pennies worth.

i would say 250 10k, you only need one, not all frags you keep or grow out need 100% light, if you put 2 lights or even a 400, there is no place to put low light corals

for 18" depth you you don't need or want 400 watts, I use two 150's over my 40 breeder frag tank and it works out great.

Thanks everyone ... I ordered a pendant 250w with 10,000k ushio bulb. I think this will be OK. It's a small tank and that's a lot of lighting. Advice always appreciated!

250 sounds great. i use a 150 on my 15 gl long.
