phosphate problem

i have that kind of like stringy goo growing in my tank on the sand, ive been told it is a phosphate problem, can anyone identify it and tell me how to fix it? thanks

Need a pic to identify....... I had the same stuff it sounds like... I used a phosban reactor... and started feeding less... and changed the food I was feeding as well.... now it's gone.

You should start using RODI water, increase the flow in your tank (I have a powerhead you can use) and feed less.

Sounds like it might be dinoflagellates. Adding a phosphate remover, like a phosban reactor, and using RO/DI water will, overtime, drive the algae off. If it is dino, then shutting the lights off for 3 days will be a quick fix that will get rid of the algae.
