pink stylo placement

Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations as the the placement of a small pink stylo colony that we just picked up at Jay's. We have a 90 gal. with 2x 250W 10K halides and 2x 54W t5 actinics. We have a closed loop with 6x 3/4" outlets that is powered by a Dart.

The stylo is a bit pale (light, not hot pink) compared to others I've seen but other wise looks very healthy. Will I risk shocking it if I put it up high? At mid-depth? Also, what level of flow does would this one like?

I didn't get much from a search, and would love some advice from those with first hand experience.

Thanks,
Abby

I have both pink with blue polyps and pink with green polyps and they both lose the contrasting color of the polyps under high light. They can handle very high flow as well.

if you picked it up from jays they were under 400w 14k se's i would put them high i have a pink stylo also and its as high as it can get in the tank and im running 2x250 14k hqi's and its pink as heck right now it took about a week to get its color back i think if you put it high it would be ok imo

Thanks, guys!

When you say it took a week to get its color back, do you mean it lost its color in the transition/at the lfs, or that it lost its color when you moved it up high, or both?

i have mine 8 inches from a 150 10k and it loves it

My Pink Stylo hates me and my tank......no matter where I put that freakin corals it looks terrible. It's quite sad, the tank we got it from the colony was very colorful and gorgeous.....in our tank it is the ugliest coral we have, that goodness I can stash the "Pink" Stylo in the frag tank as Jen won't we me get rid of it.

Good luck with yours!

If I am unsure, I put it on the sandbed and work my way up slowly. It might be fine to put it high in the tank early but if not you will have an expensive desk weight. Why risk it? Nothing happens fast in this hobby.

miller try putting more flow on it
