Plumbing leak and pvc cement Question

After testing the drain line to my new sump, I found a small slow drip coming from a pvc flushing where I did use primer AND pvc cement. Apparently, not enough? Anyway, is there anything I can do now? Will silicone around the edge help to seal this pvc flushing? Or do I just remove this part of the plumbing and redo?

Any advice would be appreciated.

If I'm having leaks on the drain, I can't wait to test the return line where my joins will actually be under some real pressure.

PITA but I would just re-do it

yeah, redo. There's no good way to seal a poor PVC joint. Make sure you're putting glue on both surfaces, use enough glue that it squeezes out a bit from the joint, and assemble quickly and hold for 20 seconds.

Also a slight twist after you push the pieces together will ensure you get a good seal. But you have to be fast.

Yeah, apparently I ...ummm......yeah, I forgot to cement this join. I'm a completely tool wasting everyone's time.

Sorry about that. :-)

Well that makes it a lot easier! Just take it apart, dry it, prime it, and cement it. :)

Once they're glued you really have to cut them out and replace the fitting if you didn't get it sealed on the first try.

I know the feeling. Last weekend I was plumbing an Om 4 way into my tank. I was getting tons of bubbles in the tank. I forgot to glue the 2" union on the supply side!!!:D

if you use the cleaner it softens the PVC which insures a seal AND it gives you more working time.

If you try it on some scrap pieces you'll see that using the cleaner almost triples your working time.

silly but easy to fix mistakes are much better than difficult to fix mistakes. Glad to hear it is an easy fix :)
