The trip to Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead, NY is tentatively scheduled for August 20th/21st. We are taking a poll to guage interest in a one day vs an overnight trip. Please vote above. The amounts above are estimates and will most likely change (hopefully decrease) if there is a lot of interest.
Details about Atlantis can be found here: http://www.atlantismarineworld.com/
Details on pricing are:
Bus
We have a quote from Peter Pan Bus Lines. The bus will leave from Canton, MA commuter rail station on the morning of August 20th and deliver us to the hotel in Riverhead, NY. Coming home on Sunday, the bus will make an hour stop at Fin & Feathers in Groton, CT. The cost of the bus is roughly $1800. This includes the ferry crossing for the bus. The bus can hold 54 passengers. The BOD has agreed that the club can afford to pay $1000 of the bus fee. That means that $800 will be split among the passengers. The pricing used above in the poll was based on 25 people: $32.
Ferry
We will be taking the LI Ferry from New London, CT to Orient Point, NY. The ferry fees are:
Adults 12 years & up: $22 round trip.
Children 2-11 years: $10 round trip.
Children under 2: free.
Hotel
There are two hotels that can accomodate us at a reasonable price:
Greenview Motel - between $119 & $139
Budget Host Inn - $155 (this was the price used in the above poll)
Atlantis Marine World
The majority of the trip will be spent at Atlantis. They have one of the largest reef tanks on the east coast! Lots of fun and knowlegdge to be gained here. Fees for Atlantis are:
Adults: $17.50
Seniors 62+ & Children 3-11: $15.50
Children 2 & under: free
Other Fees
All other fees (meals, transportation to Atlantis, etc) will be at your own discretion. The more people that go, the less it will cost per person because the bus fee will be reduced (per person) and the hotel will be able to give us a group rate.
This will be a great time. The more the merrier! If you have any additional questions, please post them here.
