Powder Brown Ich Question

Hey Guys,

I recently added a baby powder brown tang into my tank recently and he overall he is a great fish.

But for some reason he has a daily case of ich.

In the morning, he looks great. No ich! He eats a ton flake first thing.

I leave for work, still looks great.

When I get home around 7pm he shows ich. Again, eats like a pig. This time algae strips and frozen Mysis.

*Repeat Above*

Anyone experience anything like this with a tang?

Water Parameters are all in good ranges (ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)
Keep my salinity at 1.022

I inspect both in the morning, it drives me crazy. He's been doing this for at least 10 days now. Only talking about 8-12 specs.

I have added a cleaner shrimp as well as sharknose goby to help out and they are always giving him attention on what ich is on him.

Ich has never been on any of the other fish.

- Clown Goby
- Yellow Watchman
- 2 Clownfish
- Springeri Dotty
- Fridmani Dotty
- Sharknose Goby

Tangs are notorious for ich. I have dealt with it in the last but if you feed him a lot it should clear up. Cleaner shrimp can only eat and clean parasites that are on the fishes exterior. Ich is under the surface of the skin so it's not exposed to be picked off. The white spots you see is just a calcium deposit ich leaves at the surface to help protect it. Keep the tank well fed and limit all stress.

Some may say to quarenteen.... But in my case that caused more stress and my previous tang didn't make it.

My khole tang is thriving and has been ich free since I introduced him. Keeping him well fed and giving him plenty of places to hide and steady water parameters helped

Yeah, he eats so much food it makes me feel like I don't feed him enough.

I literally throw a large chunk of Formula One flake into the tank around 6-7am.

And when I get home from work, I usually throw in a SFB frozen cube of Mysis plus 1/2 cube of emerald entrée. I also put in a 1inx3in piece of green seaweed. He destroys and eats everything.

I started to use garlic extreme on his algea strip today.

I am not a fish expert but I have read and heard many times that if the fish continues eating and active he will win the battle. Some months agoI had a fish with Ich. He looks horrible but still was eating like crazy and active. After some weeks he won.

Wow I guess I should feed more lol. I feed flakes in morning and night and pellets at night and mysis once a week and nori sheet once a week. Tang doesn't go after flake or pellets yet. Pretty much only what is on rocks and glass and the nori sheet and some mysis.

How many times should I feed mysis with what I feed now and how often should I feed nori sheets
