Power out in Brockton I might need help at some point

out in marlboro too (at the house) on UPS for powerhead and battery for airstone

What kind of fish?

Do you need battery bubblers?
UPS?

I've go 2 dozen D batteries, and bubblers in every tank. (3 in the 180 with the fish) Can I keep this up indefinately with more batteries or should I look to get the fish out at some point?

Fish are 2 tangs (sailfin and achilles) 2 bangai cardinals, and a royal gramma

Fish in other tank are - black sailfin blennie, 2 tomato clowns, 1 scooter blennie that i've not seen in aeons.

From what I understand as long as the bubblers keep going & supply enough air you should be OK
One guy ran for 22 hours on RC, he was just part of thread voting for best thread in July

Using a plactic tupperware bucket & scooping out water & "splashing" it back into the tank also helps

Problem with putting fish in another tank is getting them out
I have a 30g & a 26g I could setup
I also have a 75g - compartment tank - 8' long
Wouldn't have much swimming room

Wish i could help but for the most part my tank is too small for your fish. :( P On a second note I saw the scooter the last time i was there.

Wish I could help but my tank is maxed out with bio load and room. Good luck.

Sharon went out twice tonight for about 1/2 hour each time. Ran the battery back up pump and hooked up the MJ1200 to the UPS battery back up. As prepared as you think that you are for some reason you always seem to scramble.

I have a generator and need to get it fixed. Kicking myself for not having done it already.

I would also think that if you can keep the water airated with battery bubblers you should be OK. Heaven knows you don't need a heater today. As long as the water doesn't get O2 depleted the fish should be OK.

Corals may be a bit stressed due to lack of light, but then again, in the ocean there are stormy days where there isn't much light, so I wouldn't think a day or two without light would really be that much of a problem.

Assuming you keep the water circulating, I would think the only concerns would be low PH, and possible elevated temps due to the hot weather.

PH down probally wouldn't be much of an issue for the fish, and for a short time I would think most corals would be fine also. As for elevated temps (and the likelyhood of a prolonged outage) I wouldn't worry as last I heard tommorow is supposed to be MUCH cooler.

Edit: "Lord knows I dont have to worry about heaters" Yea!

Hang in there and get extra batteries just in case (assuming you do have battery bubblers, if not, just get some)

We have 2 30g tanks tied into a 30g sump. They are normally used as holding/quarentine tanks for incomers.

They are available to you if you need them. Let us know.

Maruo You can toss them in my 300 if you need too. or my 92...(big fish in there only...due to the SFE)

They should get along find with my Blue hippo and Emporper angel...

Matter of fact you could put all of your fish from both tanks in there...
I'm going to be draining the tank soon anyhow...that's how we'll get them all out...

Or we could do the 92...which only has my SFE and some damsels..

Have you considered renting a generator from Home Depot? I did once, I think I paid about $70 for 24 hours.

Steve

So 4 hrs and the bubblers are going strong!

It souds like power is getting restored because I can hear what sounds like 5 different house bugular alarms going off simultaneously now.

BTW these messages are coming to you courtesy of Verizon Wireless and a large laptop battery.

looks like I had a little outage here, because none of my pumps are running.they always seem to fail once they are turned off. got my main pump soaking in vinagar now and I was able to nudge the maxi mod so it started spinning again.

Back on? call me if you need anything.

4 hours out last night. air pumps ran, UPS kept the powerheads up. Got a little warm (83, not bad), but everything looks OK.

Generator being delivered today, we'll see how long it takes to get it plumbed to the gas line and get the load center tied into the panel.......13kV ought to keep the pumps running
