purple fluff on side of trumpet coral head?

Hi ,

I have a 10-day-old trumpet coral. good color, opening and closing, etc. But on the side of one of the head there are two 8th-inch purple fluffs growing and the head is ever so-slightly deformed around the fluff.

I'm new to this -- anyone know what this might be?

It's usually red algae / rhodophyte. I'd use some tweezers and pull as much off as you can

yes likely an algae, if ur concerned maybe post a pic

ok. I didn't know algae could grow on the coral itself. thanks. I will tweeze it off, dip it, return to tank, keep fingers crossed.
