Question about copper toxicity

Here's lookin' at you
I was perusing Ebay this morning and came upon someone around here selling a 210 saltwater setup. I was checking out the pictures when I found this:

My question is about the toxicity of the tank itself now that copper has been used in the plumbing. Will the copper permeate into the silicone the same way a copper-based ick medication would? BTW, these questions are just for curiosity, I'm not actually interested in buying this :D.

No, and copper meds don't either to enough of an extent to worry.. urban legend.

Why would they use copper pipe with PVC fittings anyway? That's a little wierd. Copper pipe cost more than PVC and doesn't mate up well to it.

So... When looking at used tanks, I wouldn't have to ask the akward question of "to your recollection, has copper ever been used in the tank?". Good to know. Steve, I was wondering about the gobs of teflon paste it must have taken to seal those joints... Makes me feel a little bit better about my plumbing abilities :o .

Brass has Copper zinc & lead. (in that order for amount of each compound)

Trust me.....I know:)
