Question about Salifert test kits...

I just spoke with Steve at Aqua Dreams in Feeding Hills, MA. Unfortunately, they do not have Salifert test kits in stock... only SeaTest and FasTest kits. Steve, who I have spoken with previously and seems quite knowledgeable, indicated that he actually prefers SeaTest and FasTest kits. Yet, I know that Salifert kits are always highly recommended above all others. For my cycle kit (i.e., ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH), can I get away with these "inferior" kits or should I place an online order? I still plan to get the Salifert Reef kit for the other tests.

It sucks a bit that I am so far from all of the awesome LFSs on the eastern part of the state... and all of the members here. Makes it harder to become involved.

Anyway, opinions on the test kits?

quick dip will work fine for those tests but get the salifert kits for cal/ alk /mag /phos order the salifert kits on line

I have never had a problem with the FasTest kit for calcium, it matches up pretty well with my salifert...

I think the FasTest and SeaTest kits are fine just make sure that you get all the test powders out of the little packets. Some times a little sticks in the corners.
