question on tulip anemone's

marineang

Non-member
a fellow member had seen them in my tank a few weeks back and told me to watch for them and that they multiply, wow was he right. I started with 2 and 3 weeks later, I now have 8. What should I do with them?? They are small, some the size of a dime, some smaller...

if you have Kalk, you can mix it up into a paste. place the paste on them. they'll die.

Plan B....if you can remove the rock they're on, you can run VERY HOT tap water over them, and it will cook them, then they can be peeled off (or they fall off)

Kill them as fast as you can, or sell them on ebay :)

Yeah Rob...spread to 2 seperate rocks already!
Ok, I'll newc em, but I feel so badly, I wish I could contain them.

Racoon butterflyfish work as controls, but they will also eat zoathids, mushroom anemones and Euphyllia genus LPS. Tulip anemones can be pretty, but they can get out of control fast. Their motility (compared with Aiptasia) makes them particularly problematic to deal with. That and we don't have control organisms that are quite so targeted (like peppermint shrimp are for Aiptasia).
