Raising ALK too quickly

This is what happens and it happens fast
My alk was a little low so I started to raise it last night. I found this when the lights came on today.
This coral (forget the name) my sunset monti and my undata all turned snow white in a matter of hours.
Thats what I get for messing with the chemistry at 1am on a Friday night and spilling the alk over the tank.
I new I should have done a quick water change but it was late and I was not in the mood to mix up some water
My hope is that the damage is done and will hopefully stabilize. The increase was about 2 dkh not a huge amount but more than enough to cause a problem all at once

Looks like some type of Stylo. Yeah, Alk swings will annihilate corals. Especially SPS. The polyps are still out, so hopefully it will come back.

Good luck man.

I just had the same thing happen.
But the cause of mine was the top off running low and my pump sucking the kalk from the bottom of the reservoir.
Both my monti caps seemed to have payed the price for my lack of keeping up with the tank top off.

Wow, that's fast acting....... Alk is nasty with sps that's for sure.

It's not a stylo it had a bright green body almost florescent. Some kind of monti i think or something similar.
Im going to just leave things alone for a while and hopefully it will all come back

Gulp !!!! scary , as Higor says though , its polyps are still out so you may be lucky . if the flesh starts melting off well then Ummmmm

Yes it is. The sad part is I know better but had a issue with butter fingers last night. I usually measure out enough 2-part to make the adjustment I need then add it over a few days but it slipped out of my hands.

I hope this passes looking closer I can now see pretty much all my sps color is fading slightly
