Raising Salinity

I just checked my Salinity and for some reason it is down at 1.020
I would obviously like to raise this. I mixed 1 cup of Instant Ocean in a small amount of water and added it to the sump. This raised it to about 1.021 maybe, hard to say.. The tank is 75gal + aprox another 15g in sump/fuge water. How much can I safely add to raise it and at what rate?

I occasionaly run across the same thing. What I do is just top off with salted water for a couple of days and once back to normal switch back to R.O. That brings it back nice and slow, don't forget adding fresh mixed water will change PH as well as SG. The slower the better.

Be careful with your fish. They can handle a lowering of salinity better than a raising. You should take it slow like Marco said - over a few days at least.

inverts will be extra sensitive to the salt level changes....bring it up slow

Well this mornings adjustment raised it to 1.021 and I added another cup to the topoff container. So when thats in the tank it should in theory be up to 1.022 and I will go from there.. Id like to get it to 1.024
