I will start by saying I did not do this! But thought it was really cool and wanted to share. I’m also not sure how well it would work in saltwater tanks.

It won’t.
The amount of flow required in a reef will make the sand waterfall a sandstorm.

Agree with Nick. Would never work in a reef but super cool idea!
