i have used the red sea kit in the past without issue,,just don't remember what i used to do.....

when I start adding regent "C" the pink liquid in the test tube goes from pink to a violet after the first .04ml? thinking my magniesum could not be this low i added one more drop and the color went back to pink?? so i added more drops and the color went back to a dark violet???

no matter what i do the color never goes from pink to blue ?

any tips?

You draw the full 1.0 ml into the syringe, then add it until the color changes from pink to a distinct blue. Figure out the ammt you added by sutracting what's left, and basically multiply by 2000. This means that .75ml reads a mag level of 1500. Your .04 is only 80, unless you meant .4?(which would still only be 800)
When the color does change, it goes to purple first, then another drop or two puts it over the edge to a dark almost milky blue, this is where I read it. I always add another drop or two after I read it to make sure it doesn't change anymore, that way I know I got an accurate reading.
Either way, you can expect to use about 2/3 of the full 1ml syringe to get your reading.

yes .4

well here is the thing i had my water tested with sailfert and elos at lfs 2 weeks ago and my mag. was 1050,,,so i added 950ml of mag over the past 2 weeks and ordered this red sea kit to confirm that the 950ml of b-ionic mag raised my mag to 1300ppm .....is i possible that my mag is way to hi now? as i added the whole 1 ml to the vile and it was still purple???????

sorry guys,,think i got it now,,,it seems the lights in my kitchen are no good for testing,,i went under a shop-light in my work shop and all my kits colors are spot on now!

the red sea magniesum kit is still hard to use but i got the true blue endpoint now ,,it's somewhere around 1250-1350 that il work ha?
