red slime / cyano bact question

Ok guys need your help once again. I've had a small red slime prob and recently upgraded my skimmer and added a carbon/phos reactor to combat this issue. My question is should I try red slime remover to get the ball rolling a little faster? It says this stuff does not affect reef inhabitants from what I have read. Does anyone have any experience using this stuff? I only know I want it out of my tank.
Thanks in advance
Shane

Ultralife Red Slime Remover works fine and reef safe, thousands of people have been using it for years. However, red slime remover and phosphate reactors are only band-aids to other problems. How are you getting the excessive phosphate levels in the tank to begin with? A reef tank shouldn't require stuff like this.

I was using a ro/di unit that was sub par for two months. With my weekly water changes I screwd things up pretty good. Now I'm doing damage control and trying to remedy this.

Gotcha. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with Red Slime Remover. I've used it in customer tanks before when I used to service tanks.

it will work, but you are better off getting the nutrients under control, and when it drops back, you know you are in the chemistry sweet spot

Yeah that makes sense I'm just impatient and hate how it looks. Thanks guys.

Shane, I'd try manually removing it and leaving off the lights for 2-3 days (not always sunny on the reef) to knock it out... Combined with the new skimmer and phos/carbon reactor I'd think you'd be fine...

It will work for a reboot of your system.
But like Jay mentioned. If you don't get the nutrients under control that's fueling it,it will return.

I'm usually good for a red slime remover treatment once every couple of years. When nutrients get out of control and I see cyano starting I hit it.

If you follow the instructions precisely you'll be fine and the Cyano will be gone in a couple of days.
