replacing a membrane using dish detergent? help

I just got a new membrane since i was replacing my filters and the instructions state "lubricate the o-rings with silicone lubricant or ordinary dish detergent". Are these people crazy? whats going on here.

I would just moisten them, I didnt lubricate mine.

The ro/di itself is only 2 yrs old. might not be time to change the membrane, so i held off on it for now and swapped out my other filters. tds shows 0 anyway. thx everyone. once i'm rdy i'll go ahead and take my pic with the suggestions above.

I use food grade silcone grease for things of this nature.

The whole house water filter assembly as well...
