Report from St John, USVI

camera details

Underwater images - I'm shooting with an inexpensive Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS10. It does a reasonable job in shallow water WITH a steady hand. I wouldn't recommend the camera because of its limitations and pic quality. I just started shooting close-ups and the camera does an admirable job ( again, very steady hand = good results). For the landscape images - I use an older Nikon D70s with a Nikkor 18>55mm lens and shoot in Nikon's NEF format.

@Trevor - No need for scuba ...every shot is 10' or less! St John is famous for its shallow water snorkeling. And most snorkeling spots are just off the beach!

Nice! I have the nikon underwater camera, was curious if it was a very expensive camera or not. The pictures come out unreal!

@Dfrontiero89 - a steady hand my friend ...you've got to be motionless long enough for the camera to focus ( 2>3 sec. ). I probably shoot 8>10 pics for every 1 that turns out OK. Another trick is to exhale before going under to take a shot. The buoyancy of lungs full of air keeps me from being able to hover long enough to properly time and snap a decent shot.
