Return pump?

I used my return pump to pump water out of my basment the other day. What should I do to it before I rehook it up to my tank?

I'm thinking just run some hot soapy water through it in a closed loop,then fresh water should do it.If it was nasty water you could do a little bleach/hot water.

It was rain water, just don't know what was in it.

bleach is the best thing to use. i did the same thing then i ran some clean water with water conditioner threw it and everything is fine,

Mild bleach solution then let it dry!
