Just wondering how often other people flush their membranes and for how long?

I've been hearing a bunch of different things from before and after every use to every month or so...

I have a flush kit installed that makes it easy to flush.

I don't keep the RO on all the time, I make 40g at a time and generally flush for about 30 seconds - 1 minute a day when I run it. My membrane is 4+ years old, in fact probbly older as I got it used. still get 0 TDS after the DI, never bothered to measure the RO output as it just works fine.

Actually if you remove the "flow restrictor" on the garbage line and let the filter run for 30 minutes, it greatly increases the flow rate over the membrane, flushing it out quite well. I do that about once a year..

Dave, I flush mine when I see a 002 on my tds out of the membrane. I will flush it for about 5 minutes or more if I forget about it for 20 minutes or so.

Never flushed in almost 2 yrs.:o

This is exactly what a "Flush Kit" does except it put in a valve that allows you to bypass it with a quick turn then put it back to normal operation by turning the valve back.

You can make you rwon flush kit with a valve, T fitting and some tubing.

30 seconds before and after each use, I make 15 gallons each week. This was advised to me by one of the major online suppliers, I want to say Russ at Buckeye, but I can't remember for sure if it was him or not.

If i haven't run the RO unit in a few weeks I will fast flush it for a few minutes before making more water. Which is about every time I used it, I make 2-3weeks worth of water at once.

Flush once a month for 1 or 2 minutes. I make approx. 50 - 60 gal. / Mo.
If you want to make your water much faster, add the piggy back / dual membrane... amazing.
