RO/DI (Water General Unit) Question

GottisEgo

Non-member
So I just hooked up my RO/DI unit I purchased from Water General on BRS members reccommendations. I have never used an RO/DI unit before as this is my first trek into Saltwater. My question is, when water is going thru the process, does very little good water come out? It seems like there is more crappy water coming out then good. Is this normal?

I had to set it up with a Faucet hookup.

Thanks for any tips!

If I'm right, you'll always have more waste than product water. How many GPD?

The RD-102 was the one I initially bought. The 100GPD RO membrane has a poor rejection rate, and it will chew through your DI resin. When you replace it, get the 75GPD RO membrane.

Overall, I am pleased with my watergeneral unit

yep...what he said.

From waht I understand, you reject 7 - 10 gaollns for each gallon of pure water. As soon as the weather warms up, I'm going to route my discharge line out to the garden. Probably a bog garden..

Mine went up some.
Not really alot,but enough.lol
We got the Water General unit that has the RO water tank for drinking. So we use at least a gallon of ro every few days.
Sure beats buying it and lugging it in the house....same with ro/di.
My tank looks great.Only green is the monti cap, chromis and the pipe organ.
Definitely worth it.

Is the 75 Gallon membrane the same size as the 100 ?
Does it fit in the same way... just asking - I have the same unit.

From what I've read all standard size ro membrane are interchangable.
I'm not going that route until my membrane needs changing. And that could be a while. The TDS in my town water supply lately seems to be quite low.

The membranes are standard I replaced my 90 gpd with a 75 gpd membrane. IIRC the rejection rate should be 4 to 1 You should have a way to adjust it. My unit uses a capillary flow restrictor. I had to cut it down when I changed from the 90 to 75 membrane.

I have not looked it up for a while but as I recall you will reject 4-5 gal for every gal produced.
