I have been in the hobby for 25 years. I personally don’t shop at this venue but I will speak in generalities.
When you purchase a fish from a store it’s off there hands when it leaves unless they have a wide loss of the same fish. I did purchase a specific fish from a store recently in our area that never did well and slowly died while I had it in qt after less than a week. When I was chatting with the owner of the store he told me the same fish from same order that went to another tank did the exact same thing and this store helped me out with a replacement. This was great customer service when he didn’t have to. It should be noted though this specific fish was not sick or at least visually didn’t show any signs of ich, velvet, etc; my guess is the shipping was bad or the qt shock from being transshipped across the world.
I learned a longtime ago if you don’t run a QT tank you will inevitably run into some kind of disease issue. I qt every fish that goes into all my tanks and have been doing it for years. If you are going to be in this hobby I would strongly recommend you invest in a cheap qt system, they aren’t that expensive to ensure the fish go into the display tanks free of disease.
