Seaworld in Salem NH

I was looking for some Kent Tech M mag and was traveling through Salem and my normal LFS's in the area weren't open/didn't have the large bottle. So I called up Seaworld and after about a 10 min wait on the phone someone went to check and said they had it in stock. So I drove 10 mins out of my way to go and when I got there they didn't have it  Little annoyed but it gets better...

I've been in a few times to Seaworld but never to buy anything because the pricing is just ridiculous and it hasn't gotten any better. I saw green chromis that sell for $5-$8 at most LFS for $19.99:eek: Talk about a rip off. Oh and all the SW tanks had a murky nasty white haze to them...

I know I'm not a frequent Seaworld inhabitant so I can't speak to some of the "shining" moments of others in the club but every time I got there there's things like this that just remind me why I don't do business with them...

I've bought a couple of corals that were discounted but as a rule I don't buy anything there. The tanks look like sewers, getting "knowledgable" help is next to impossible. Maybe things will change now that Chris Quinn is back there now. About ten or fifteen years ago I watched the old owner dump 8oz. of copper into the old fish only system's sumps, no measuring at all then throw the empty bottle in the trash. After the death of every fish I've ever bought there in a very short time I learned my lesson. And it's not me, I've had some of my fish for 3-4 years and have been doing this hobby since 1990.

i agree with both you guys, i called them last week for something and was on hold for 10-15 min. also, i dont know why i even try . livestock/tanks look like poop and drygoods are priced high. drygoods only if im in a jam.

in fish yes anytime i am in there for my lizard and snake stuff i get help right away but they know nothing about the sw fish it kills me to see the fish in those nasty tanks

I was a faithful customer many years ago. I was in there today looking for some dry goods (way over priced so I opted to not get anything). figured I would check out the livestock & I was sickened. many dead fish, tanks looked like they had been neglected for a looong time, corals were deplorable. asking a King's ransom for everything of course. I am done with this place. It's so sad really. It once was a pretty good place to go.

Seaworld is just up the road from where I am, but I only go there to get my RO water (.50 a gallon). While I was there today I pointed out 3 fish that were doing the backstroke :(

i went there last night. it was extremely disappointing. i bought a fish to make the trip worth it though. i couldn't find it this morning so i guess we will see how that goes.

Sea World

Not a fan either. I can tell when the water in my 180 FOWLR is overdue by the color of my fish, especialy the panther grouper. They had a tank with a few of them, and I have never seen one so unhappy and grayed out.

I called them to get a price on a 29gal biocube, as well as everybody on hold 10 or more mins, he came back and said yes I have 1 and it is $289, I drove over a hour to get it only to find out that they didn't have one in stock and the price was really like $399. Bad bad place

I was in there today was early to get to removed . The tank were spotless although stock was low they are getting in a shipment this week. Chris was there not the manager but a different chris who only works Tuesday. He wa really friendly and knowledgeable. Maybe they cleaned all the tanks and are making a fresh start. I do have to say in the past my experiences there were not great. I have to say with the dead fis removed and there are dead fish in their tanks I think it goes with the territory especially when the fish are a new shipment

I found interesting Bobofin's posting of 7/13/09 regarding seeing someone pour cooper into the tanks several years ago. Just a couple of months ago I saw someone doing it still!!! When I inquired he told me that it was cooper, they add it all the time, because, "pet stores are whore houses for ich"!!! Now there's one I remebered.
On the other side of the coin.....when I have called, I have received a quick response and they have helped me out on several occassions. I guess its the luck of the draw. But I would not purchase any fish there.

well the fish was supposed to have been tank raised, but it never ate in my tank. i gave it away to another LFS and it never ate there either, it finally starved to death this past week.

I stopped into SW last Friday. The tanks were bare and the shelves were pretty empty. Looks like they are having issues.

I was there not to long ago.. tanks didn't look too hot at all... I wonder whats going on. For a while there i thought they were turning it around.

I do go there pretty regularly for frozen rats. One of the few things that is cheaper than petco. And their reptile cages are definitely well kept compared to their SW tanks. Staff is a lot more helpful and I think more knowledgeable in reptile dept in their respective hobbies. So its not a store thing, i believe its a department thing.

Went there on Sunday to pick up a test kit that was unavailable at the other Lfs's. Was planning on grabbing a few $10 frags. . . . all the coral tanks are empty. There was a sign saying that the sump has cracked and they are in the process of replacing it.

Just an FYI.
