Separating Coral Growth from Frag Racks

Anyone have any tips on removing as much coral overgrowth from frag racks with the least amount of breakage.

I had good luck disassembling the rack and bending slightly. In my case I had a frag tank with a bare bottom and simply put a short piece of RO tubing on the bottom, centered the single layer of the rack, and weighted the ends. After an hour or so the encrusted green spongode popped right off without breaking. Figure a way to bow your rack if possible, and give it time to let go, you might get lucky.

I have a similar rack from zen reef and came into a similar position not too long ago. It doesn’t bend much so I just pushed up on the plug from the bottom, I was 1 for 2 in keeping them as one piece. I ended up with two small frags and the main piece of the one that broke I was satisfied with the results.

O boy lol I’d try wedging around the sides to get underneath them and then carefully trying to pry them up, I see frags in your future!! Bring em by we’ll trade
