Well, got my lights set up, 2 Radion LED units. I didn't want to hang them, so I got the AI SOL stand and went to Home Depot and found some screws that would fit in the rail and also the radion (5.0 metric). Looks good.
I also just broke down my 120 and moved everything up here. Have all the rock in big rubber maid for now, just a few chunks in to cycle (and 240 lbs sand). I'll be aquascaping at the end of the week.
Love the tank . Ur sump looks familiar . I had one come in a couple weeks ago . Mine is an Advance 200 .. It has the refugium side and skimmer side. The Acrylic light holder and probe holders were a dead giveaway ..
Well, my project this week was to break down my old 120 and move the rock, get things moving on the new 150. I had finished the rock on the back of the tank a while ago, and added a 4 inch DSB ..... which took forever to clear.....well over a week. It also caused quite a stir every time I moved it, much worse than 10 years ago when I used Southdown. Now that I have a good bacterial load, things are better.
So I wanted to do 2 tall columns of rock in the tank, with very open architecture that showed the back wall and also allowed swimming room in the cube. I also wanted it to look good from 3 sides.
So, a bag of black zip ties, a masonry bit and a few hours, and here we go. I'm pretty happy overall.
Thanks. I think 2 of the radion is good....three would be better, but I think you could get by with two - especially if they were higher above the water than mine. I see no problem with 2 for now, and who knows in the future.....
Here is an update pic ... done with diatoms, had a mini hair algae bloom.......worried about a few patches of feathery algae...bryopsis? Plenty of bubbles in my sand and nitrate almost gone....slowly but surely ;-)
I should have said that it was the end of the day and my LED lights were dimming, only about 45 min until they were out....so that explains the darkness.
Well, we are making progress, so I thought I would post a recent update photo. Coraline is starting to build up......mostly green, but starting to see purple. Everyone is doing well so far, no one lost during the transfer from the 120g.
Well, things are really stabilizing now after 3-4 months. Finally getting a ton or coraline covering things, nitrates now down to 0 and rest of parameters stable.
