shipping corals to a PO box?

Ray

frrrrunkis
I have someone from reef central asking me to ship corals to a PO box (in Orlando) I have never done this before before but do know that most if not all online stores will not ship live stock to a PO box

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

ya he wants USPS because it is cheaper, I have shipped a lot of corals USPS next day all around the US but never to a PO

I would never ship to a p.o. box. There's a huge chance of it getting lost or damaged if the box doesn't fit in the p.o. box. Plus It's not as secure as it would be shipped to his house.

If he's that concerned about it going a-wall, then it should be shipped with signature confirmation along with proof of delivery and insurance.

There's a reason that mostly all online business won't ship to p.o. boxes.

Ya, I think I am going to tell him that once it leave my hand it is all on him if he wants it shipped to a PO box

If get him to agree that its his responsibility after it leaves your hands. Get him to say it in an email like stated above and also in the notes section of the paypal payment. Also take pictures of it during packing and after It's packed. That way if something happens and he tries to file a claim, you have proof that he wanted to do it that way and he was taking full responsibility of it.

I would not even bother, to much can go wrong with this even if he says its on him once it leaves your hands.

i ship stuff, and i would never do this... i agree with above, use ups or fedex, and make them pick it up at the hold center... however, if this is what they expect you to do, i would decline doing business with them for your own sake... you have to protect yourself and do things your way or no way... you the only one who stands to lose... paypal will ALWAYS side with the buyer, so you have to be careful...

If he doesn't want to give out his address out, then he shouldn't be buying stuff online.

I told him to send the money as a gift and he wanted to pay the paypal fees so I kindly told him it would probably be better to get them from the local member he told me had frags, they were fresh cut and not healed like mine and that was the reason he wanted mine.
After that guy that files a claim after almost a month I dont even want to sell online anymore, I am feeling a bit nervous about it :(

sounds like you have figured out your answer... someone else less worryful will want your stuff as it is really nice... dont risk it... kindly tell him you have to decline his purchase... no big deal... follow your gut...

btw, i really liked your chalice frags and noticed them here and the other site... if i collected lps, which i dont at this time, i would have been all over a couple of them :) jus sayin lol... GL with your sales, shipping, and purchasers...

they don't like shipments to a po box.....(The PO or mailbox places don't like that sort of activity..... think it is a illegal substance & it usually looks suspicious) I would tell the party hold for pickup with an id or no go....

I just wanted to say thanks, I have noticed you commenting on how nice some of my corals look in various threads but dont think I thanked you

you bet bro, but i wasnt too worried about a thanks as it wasnt needed... but its always nice to give and recieve compliments amongst our reefing community... what i like the most is that you actually let your frags heal and arent trying to sell off or trade some jus hacked up frags that are lacking color and saying they look great or have dead tissue on them... i have come across way too many people who try and pawn off crap as in color and cuts... even on here in BRS, its jus sad and upsetting as that is something i would NEVER do... to me that is unacceptable, and have learned this the hard way... but lesson learned, i jus wont deal with those fools again... however, clearly yours are healed, healthy and taken great care of and your not willing to let go of something you wouldnt want in your own system and that is very respectable and commendable... jus thought you deserved some props for this and your husbandry and fragging practices...
