Sick fish. Need advice

Ok so not QT ing my fish finally bit me in the you know what. Had a kole tang which looked like he was getting ick. Well this morning he looked really bad. Skin was like peeling off and his mouth just looked like it had skin all over it. It was pale in color as well. He didn't make it. Now I am at the what to do with my other fish.

2 clowns and a chromis. After some research I am wondering if it was something other than ick. I read about Brooklyn something that caused the skin to peel off.

Guessing I will have to try to catch the three and treat them. Read that either copper or hypo. Looking for pointers here.

Thanks everyone

Yeah sounds like Brook. I think Tropic isla has formalin 3....a hike but i'd give a call first. FW baths help as well.

I read they will help knock the parasites off but not kill it. Nervous cause it said it can kill in less than 24 hours and that's what happen the kole. Now my BW Clown has the excessive mucas on it. Gotta hit the store up for and air pump and sponge filter. I have a 14 gallon biocube I can set up and have them in

I have a 20 long cycled and fish less. Would I be best just to take the few pieces of rock out and use that? If I use that formalin 3 in it will I be able to set it back up as a regular tank after

I had a similar experience and lost all my fish even with treatment. Now I'm starting over. I hope you have better luck

Thanks reef starter. Hope they make it through the nights. Just don't have the time with the kids to get it done today. Tomorrow I will get them into QT. Just gonna use a sponge filter with big air pump and pvc

So after finding some pics of a BW clown on Google that had brook it looks exactly like mine. Ugh. I know it's my fault. Gonna get my biocube up and running with water and heater tonight. Gotta get a air pump tomorrow and try to catch the fish without destroying my entire reef lol. Hoping that coral reef has some formalin I can go grab.

Condolences and good luck. We lost almost all of our fish last month to the same thing. We brought in a Tanka's Wrasse from liveaquaria without QT, it died shortly therafter. Within 5 days almost all of our fish were dead.

I had to tear down our entire reef and catch the survivors, who are now in hospital tank with formalin while the reef lies fallow for 2-3 months.

It's been heartbreaking and I can see why these kinds of things knock folks out of the hobby. I would advise setting up a hospital tank ASAP and getting the fish under treatment.

My previous experience with cryptocaryon made me think I had time to act slowly and cautiously, but many parasites like these can move too fast.

If I were you I'd get them into a qt tank now and use your tank water to get it started. Seachem makes this stuff called paraguard that is suppose to work for brook

Sorry for the delay in posting. Unfortunately they didn't make it. Poor things. Had him a couple years now. Only plus is I have a qt setup for there replacements to be in till the tank is fallow for 6 weeks.

Aw that sucks man. Good luck and unfortunately a hard lesson learned. I'm never gonna put another fish in my display unless I treat it for everything over the course of 2 months

get yourself an african cleaner wrasse too , helps "manage " anything that might be in there . and believe me its in there

It's unfortunate but I think most fish now are garbage. I feel like 4 or 5 years ago more than likely you'd buy a fish and it would have ich. Now I feel like it's either brook or velvet or flukes or all the above. These breeders and stores need to be held accountable a heck of a lot more.

In the end YOU have to take care of the fish . while I agree we should have better acsess to quality fish . I think no matter what anything can happen . even if you QT . something goes wrong in your tank and boom . theres a reason this hobby is for people that are kind of ummmm Anal lol. cause we need to be on constant guard . to me its what makes it fun , the challenge of keeping an eco system stable and thriving . I played around with my params a bit with this system and learned that its not a good Idea . fortunately I was able to bring most of my fish through it and only lost one . but that was only ich . My Condolances to you 22engine .
