Skimmer to big?

Are there any cons or pros for that matter to running a skimmer rated for a MUCH bigger tank than I currently run? Basically I have a 30gal with a 20 gal sump and a TERRIBLE skimmer (seaclone 150-it is just is not cutting it). I have a bigger skimmer (MR-1) for my new tank that I will set up in the spring. Can I run this on my 30gal until I set up my new tank? The MR-1 will fit in my sump. thanks

What would be the best skimmer for a 30 gallon reef with a 20 sallon sump...? Total water ... around 45 gallons. I had a Seaclone 150 and tossed it (JUNK) Now Im using a Red Sea 60 (at leasts it works).

depends on your application. hang on back? In sump? I also don't think there is any definitive best... people have alot of opinions on skimmers, it comes down to what works best for your application. Unless you are using a seaclown, in which case the answer is anything else.
