I figured I'd replace the male that jumped 6 months ago.
He's now in the QT tank after acclimation.I figure I'll keep him there for observation for a while and feed him well. He'll need his strength when I introduce him to the wife.;)
Anyway,I'm planninh on putting him in a bag and float it for a while before I let them get together. This F.P. is smaller than the one in my tank now.
Does this sound like a good procedure?

good plan, mine didnt get along at all, i floated the newest one in a clear plastic strainer container for a few days to keep it from getting picked on

i used a large specimen container with a bunch of holes drilled in it to acclimate the 2 teeny cleaner shrimp i got today, didnt wanna get them confused with food lol.

So,do some False Perc's have more of a nesting/hosting habit than others?
The small perc. I have in my QT. seem to like hosting more than the big female in my display. He has dug a hole in the sand and hangs out in there almost constantly.
The female in my DT just hangs out by the overflow. She used to go in the big toadstool coral when the male was alive, but not anymore.I sure hope these two will hit it off once introduced.I'm hoping this little one will show the female how to host.

U might think about taking the female out for a few days and reintroduce them in your main tank at the same time. Or put the female in the qt tank for a few days and the male in the main tank. Then introduce the female.

I'm planning on catching the female and putting her in the QT with the male when the time is right.I hope I don't have much trouble doing this.I didn't have that hard of time the first time I needed to catch her.

Sounds good. Keep us posted.

Well,I've had him in QT now for a little over a week.He has a tattered tail, not bad but I think he might have been getting beat up a little. He was the smallest but healthiest one in the tank at the LFS.He's eating well and looks to be getting fatter and stronger.Probably this weekend I'll try the female in there.
She lost her mate when he decided to jump into the overflow and I had it covered with eggcrate.
I'll give an update when I do this.

Well, couldn't catch the female to put with the male in the QT.So I caught the male and floated the bag for an hour in the DT.Released the male......they did the shake and haven't left each others side now for over 1/2 hr.:)
I think they're going to get along just fine.
