so much STN how to stop it? same as RTN

I was feeling bad for all the stn ive been seeing.
but i think mines from light shock.
I added a pagoda cup coral about 2-3 weeks ago. in the past week STN has been makeing its way "slowly" up the base. top polips ect are fine,eating ect.
can the colony be saved the same way as RTN? cut it off at the pass; so to speak. sigh.

I didn't even know you could get RTN/STN on an LPS. Must be from light.

Why dont you place it lower or cut the cycle.

I could be wrong, and am interested as to what others have to say. RTN on an LPS?

ive done both. its slow real slow like 1/8" a day but progressing.

?!? dont know if it is STN/RTN but from where it is fixed to the rock the flesh is definately comeing off. ive seen RTN n its not that. pagoda
is not like a brain, candy cane ect. it has large areas with flesh, but no polyps.
from under the cup to the base. and its at the base that flesh is dieing. but up top is still growing, its definatly saveable.

A Pagoda should have large polyps, at least mine does. Any way something is irritating it creating polyps to not come out?

no the polyps are good growin eating.

i keep the emerald well feed. 3-4 real tiney hermits noone buggin it at all.

just more wondering if it will recover on its own or do i have to cut it out.the sick part.

I don't concentrate on LPS anylonger but years ago I did. You might try a 5 minute dip in Lugols or Betadine, afterwards put it in an area that gets strong but indirect flow.

Light, or lack there of, is likely not a major issue causing this.

I'd suggest cutting any infected portions away. These microbial infections can be hard to stop. I once treated my red lobo with 2 day Neomycin bath, just in a bucket in my sump with an airstone dropped in it. It did not have any clear infection that was moving across the coral, but the polyps were dying one by one over the course of several weeks. For the bath I used Neomycin at the dose they recommend for fish. I did a 100% water change at 24 hours, and after 48 hours put the coral back in the tank. Infection was cured, now I frag the coral back about every 9 months!

ill try cutting it.. i can save most of its pedistal if i cut 1/4 inch above the infected area. the infection is still only where it attaches to the rock. no polyps area effected. if you have looked at pagoda they have almost what id call a trunk. ill attempt to cut above that. and see what happens
