i have a reef octopus SRO 1000INT and is been running for 3 day now and is keep over flow on me, i try every water deep and is still overflow. It because i have nothing in the tank but live sand, or i have to wait still i put my live rock in and run the skimmer. Would that help ? any one have this problem with this skimmer before or have any advice for me thanks.

yea i did try that and is still overflow on me and the output value is 100% open. As i state it is because i have nothing in the tank but water and sand, you think that might be the problem ?

i have the same skimmer and had the same problem.it took over a week before it started working correctly, for that week i scooped out the foam that was floating on the surface. mine seems to run best in 5.5" of water..

Rub your face and then put your arm in the tank. :p

Seriously though the oils from your skin will slow bubble production allot... for a little while and maybe give you skimmer a chance to catch up.

Oils from ur face come in handy......... If ur drinking keg beer and it's foamy get some oil from ur nose and run ur finger over the foam......... Bye bye foam lol

thanks guy i will make a stand to get the water deep at 5.5 see if that help at all because i have it at 7.5 water deep. once again thanks

Mine is at 6". They are a pain int the neck to regulate. You probably should close the valve and then slowly open it. When you see foam rising stop and give it some yime to adjust...then adjust again until the foam reaches the top of the neck. Also...you need to keep a constant water level for it to work properly.

I ran mine in 5.25" of water. I also chopped the riser tube on the outlet to cut down on the splashing, about the bottom 3rd of the outlet was underwater.

i about to give up on my new ro-ps 1000INT skimmer, because i can't get it to stop overflow :(. The skimmer have good rate but how come i can't get it to work? any one HELP!

If its your first few days of first time running, give it some time to break in. I have the NW110 model, and it took a day or 2 to break in.

I spoke to a few lfs about what whould be done to help break-in a new skimmer.
I can't mention who said it but they told me that you can saok the skimmer in really hot water to provide a "surface" for the foam to stick.
You just don't want to use any abrasives on the inside as that will cause issues with the build-up.
If you have no load in your tank that could be the problem.
You need some scum to squeeze out otherwise you get nothing.

the most scum i ever got was the next day after i set up my tank, my dry rock released the most annoying film on the surface of my tank, massive amounts of crud. That was after a muriatic acid bath too.

any one live close to manchester NH that can come to my house and help me out with my skimmer, will pay them becasue i realy have a hard time with the skimmer overflow on me realy need help :(

not sure if anyone has mentioned but output tube suppose to be above water line. I have 2000 model and love it everyday.
