Starfish goes nova?

Nonmouse

Phear teh coral!
I have (well, had) a nice large pink paddle starfish. A week or so ago, however, i noticed that he was spending a lot of time curled up in the corner of the tank. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that it's only his disconnected legs that are in the corner. :: They look healthy (individually) and are active, chasing after pellets of food- although I don't know what they're doing with it, since each leg only seems to have a small whitish lump at the base.

Anybody know what's likely to be going on? Am I going to end up with six very unsymmetrical starfish, or are the legs just too stupid to know they're dead, and are just going through the motions?

Fish tank version of a zombie apocalypse?

Interesting to see what happens with them though. Very odd indeed!

Hmm, I knew starfish could regenerate but I thought whichever leg got the mouth was the one that lived. I didnt know they could all live. Maybe they can all regenerate mouths?

Your starfish doing it on its own is a neat trick, my Melanarus helped relieve my starfish of its legs...
