Starting from scratch again

nah no DSB, sulphur denitrator ;), heavy skimming with an oversized skimmer, little if any fish and K.I.S.S.

Is this K.I.S.S...sulphur denitrator?
Never really heard of them.

K.I.S.S. = Keep It Simple Stupid

Sulphur denitrator is rather simple works like a calcium reactor without co2, some actually use calcium reactors as a sulphur denitrator. If I run into a nitrate problem again which I doubt I will use one and plan to have it at the ready before the tank ever has water.

i think he meant that having a sulphur denitrator is part of the kiss plan? it just doesnt sound simple. i know its not complicated but it sounds it.

i definitely would have some bio load brian. you dont want the tank to be too clean. fish poop helps imo the color and health of corals...just not too much poo.

yep only plan on using it if needed, Its gonna be a very cheap DIY.

First in line for the sulfur Denitrator when you break down again. :p ....Ok, so I am about 6 months early...lol

Figured I'd update, the sulfur denitrator is done, all for under $100 with media......

Steve i agree it doesn't sound K.I.S.S. but when you compare the options it actually is. Simply put for phosphates a phosphate reactor, for nitrates a sulfur denitrator, for calcium a kalk or calcium reactor.......

It simplifies things versus using a fuge or a deep sandbed that may or may not work correctly or a remote deep sand bed, or sugar/vodka dosing.......all of the above which can not be controlled as precisely or guranteed to work at all.....

I also managed to pick up a used PM kalk reactor.
Equipment is accumalating slowly but surely.

Sources tell me that oceanic is dropping some of its tanks so I will probably be ordering my tank in the next week or 2.

you guys sound so smart!!:.:.

Having trouble deciding on a sump still.

If i can get a custom stand built to my specs I would like to use this. I have already been in touch with the company and they have offered to make it 40" long to accomadate the RL 200 for same price of $469 shipped that the 36" model sells for.

It's a toss up between that and PM's R36+ if i can get a custom stand done. Price is close as this is $389 ish plus shipping......

If i can't get a custom stand done, I may have to downsize to a RL 150 skimmer, and the R30 sump.

Tank came today along with a few surprises.

I apparently got an older stock tank, what this means is it has Black silicone :D a centered overflow :D and a 1" return and drain  and a black background installed factory by oceanic.

On top of all the other reasons I had chosen it ( no center brace, starfire glass, beveled edges, untempered drillable bottom) those additions take the cake!

My only complaint is the silicone job was a tad messy, but for comparisons sake my 65AG tank was even sloppier not to mention the deflection in the side glass panes where siliconed. The oceanic has no deflection, perfectly even.

I've seen it:D......looks like a pretty nice size tank.

::Should you decided to sell this in the near future put me on top of the list:::p

i seen it 2 and im going 2 have 2 get 1 but i dont know what i will do 4 a stand watch me get clear silicon off set over flow and no tint on the back

Alright I picked up a camera to play with but I liked my nikon better, will probably return this tommorow. Pics of the 58g

Here's a pic I took of livestock tonight with the same camera, I had to fool with it with a photo editor to make it look half decent, I don't think this is the camera for me.
