Whenever my acros have gotten STN it was always-
1. After I changed out the GFO -I no longer use it.
2. After I changed out the carbon - I switched from ROX to the cheapo stuff and it doesn't happen anymore.
3. When the pH drops too low at night, <8.0 . -just happened last week and I lost a large acro and damaged 2 others.
When my pH probe goes out of calibration, it gives false high readings. When I see STN, I calibrate the probe and sure enough, it's way off. The night time pH low of 8.04 is really more like 7.89 or lower. I think this stresses out the corals and contributes to STN. I have no proof of course, just a reefers observation.
