I'm looking to get back into a reef tank after over 10 years without one. Looking for suggestions on a smaller one around 30G all in one setup. I've had my eye on the Red Sea MAX NANO G2 XL Aquarium. Any other I should consider?

7 months ago I purchased an IM Nuvo 15 on sale for $119. Great little tank that I’m enjoying.

I have always kept nano reefs over the years and have had no complaints about Biocube or IM. I’ve got a 32 gallon Biocube as well as the 15 gallon IM I posted the link for.

Red Sea is top of the line and you’re going to pay for that, like buying a BMW. I don’t necessarily think it’s the greatest option. In the past few years there have been lots of horror stories about Red Sea tanks bursting. Give it a simple google search to find lots of stories.
Unless I’m wrong Red Sea has not released any information on the problem. They also have not made it right to the reefers who spent an arm and a leg on their product and had their tank burst out of the blue.

The picture in my profile is my old biocube 29G that was doing great! It's when I went to the 150G with the 220G basement sump is when I lost all interest because it became such a chore for me with my limited time. The Biocube was so easy to care for.

I really enjoy my 35 rimless cube. Believe it was a Seapora which is entry level but I drilled the back panel and did a ghost overflow as I like the look much much better than the reef ready options.

Hopefully you can get back into it with another nano. When something you enjoy starts feeling like a chore it takes all the fun out of it.

Nanos are fun to me personally because you can make them as simple or complicated as you’d like.

Screw the 30 gallon! Go big, you need to catch up for the ten years you weren’t enjoying the hobby. I suggest a 4’ tank to start. innovative marine AIO would be my choice. Welcome back!
