Surface film

I have a surface film that just won’t go away. I have good surface agitation with power heads but the film just gets pushed around. I tried paper towels to soak it up but that did next to nothing. I don’t think it’s hurting anything except me because it’s driving me crazy. Can anyone share some ideas on how to clear this up?

Is it possible your power head is pushing the film away from the overflow? I have a gyre on each end of the tank that alternate and when they are running they pushed the film to one side or the other. So to deal with that I programmed an 30 minute off period every 6 hour so that the water is only circulating into the overflow such that the film is taken care of.

I've experienced it in the peninsula on the far end, added a sea sweep and that helped a little bit but have since added dual xf-350 gyres and it's cleared. My understanding is it's unsolved proteins as I thought one of my tangs were slow but turns out it was eating the protein film.

Try to aim them at 100 degrees rather than 90. Mine were doing that too. The gyre is actually stronger that way too.

Drop the water level in your overflow or if you want it super quiet, turn off your return pump when you feed and/or few times a day and it will go down the overflow.

All good suggestions, thanks. For now I dropped the gyres down the glass and pointed the higher like @nickeg79 suggested. I had the gyres vertical on the back wall but now have the there horizontal. The morning will tell.
