... IMO of course, but yes, absolutely. If you can afford the tek (even the 6 bulb tek) than yes go for it. Tek light fixtures don't come with fans, but you can very easily add one or two to the sides of the fixture by buying a cheap 5 dollar clip on (or if you like buying a higher quality aquarium fixture fan, like an icecap brand)
I'm with Joel for this one. If you were to swap out the 6 bulbs for quality bulbs (ATI, UVL, Geisemann etc) that's about $120 right there plus you get 8 bulbs instead of 6 and I'd be the reflectors for the TEK fixture are a little better 
Like I always say (and prob already have) don't skimp out on skimmers and lights because when you do you just end up buying something better down the road like I did for both the skimmer and lights

this is something i absolutely preach too... especially to anyone new to the hobby (not that turtle is) but so many people want to get the cheapest thing possible... and i don't have a problem with trying to save money, but in most cases it seems like it costs the person money because they realize down the road they need to upgrade anyways and have to pay for the cost of the POS equipment plus the price of the legit equipment.
If you want to be cheap in this hobby, you can have a tank with a few leathers and mushrooms and fish and rock... if you want more than that you can't be a cheapo in this hobby... just really the way it is.

I just like to say THANKS again for everyone input. I just placed an order yesterday for the TEK 8 X 54w with Giesemann bulbs (1 Actinic +, 1 Pure Actinic, 2 Aqua Blue+, and 4 midday ). The total is $543.35 shipped. Damn that is more than a week pay check. I'm truely broke now but can't wait til I get the light. Thanks again everyone.
