So my boiler has not been holding water so the heat was off all day when i was at work.

tank was at 76.2 when i got home.
heaters controlled by rkl so although the controller was telling the heater to be on the heaters internal controller was not turning it on.

now on on these cold days ill set the heaters internal controller little higher. things look fine on the reef though just a cold day i guess. bringing temp back up now.

my heater crapped out the other day and i forgot the window open in my room. Tank was at 68 when i finally noticed it.

the heaters area may have been warmer then the rkls sensor... are they in the same area?

same area just the ambient temp of the house was colder than normal so to heat all the water to said temp the heater controller needed to be set to higher temp. normally i set the heater at only a degree higher than my rkl. just as a fail safe in the event that the rkl outlet was to get stuck on

maybe the house was colder than normal??

yeah very cold heat was not on all day. had to manually fill up the house heater to get her to click on when i got home

Ugh I feel you'r pain there, My old steam boiler likes to trip the low water cut off on the coldest day at work, or coldest nights while I'm sleeping. I have been smart enough to go do a blow down/refill each night this week though to prevent that from happening. Auto fill valves are great in this instance, but the old mechanical one thats part of the LWCO is garbage and I refuse to fix it. I planned on upgrading the boiler/system to forced hot water this year, then life got in the way. 2 300w heaters and a 250 MH keep my tank right @ 78 though.
