Tank location

Is it true that I should not place my tank near the patio door? Direct sunlight comes in a little bit, but not a ton. I read that sunlight produces a lot of algae, would my clean up crew take care of that?

Not true.

.....however, if your water quality is bad, then the algae will grow where there is the most light.....on the side with reef lights AND natural light.

I personally would use it to your advantage

My tank is directly across the room from a picture window and gets blasted with morning sun.
At least until the leaves come out on the tree in the front yard.I've never had any more issues with algae from the extra sunlight.
Only thing is the fish get woken up early when the curtains are opened.

I have a window that gets sunlight almost all day. I'm considering moving my tank there.

My top off is right next to a window. The sun hits it all day long and it has no algae.
