Sounds like they are securing future business! Judging by this thread it seems like I'm missing some interesting stuff.

What do you really expect from a "reality" tv series? Reality, truth, unbiased editing? Long story short, I have never seen the show nor am I likely to watch it. But let's just face the facts here, no drama=no show. Plain and simple, people desire others to fail it brings up our self-worth and empowers people to have more knowledge than the "pros" that do these shows. They are doing it to make a buck just like everyone else on TV. Do you actually think they have any control of how the show is edited? NO. Why? It leads to poor ratings which leads to less advertisements which leads to the show's cancellation. Take a step back and think about it any disclaimer would be worthless as the network would not be responsible since no life threatening situations are portrayed. Why bother? Truth is this type of discussion only fuels their ratings and keeps the show on the air. There is no such thing as bad publicity in Hollywood. Now back to my regularly scheduling program of other stuff on tv.

Sorry, Dagwood I was still typing up my post when yours was posted. My comment was not directed at you it was a summary of the negative postings. It's a tv show not educational programming
Just when you though this thread had died, along comes Jocko...
So I have to pipe in here to go over Brett's attendance at MACNA. He was there the entire show, he attended the reception and banquet and stayed literally to the very end. He's actually a really cool guy. A number of speakers took shots at Tanked and obviously at a conference like this there were plenty of people giving him a lot of crap. But personally I appreciated the fact that he was there. It's not like him being there is going to drive massive new numbers of viewers to his show. He is very aware of the issues surrounding how the tank installs are portrayed on the show. And the concerns are definitely legit. He spoke to the crowd for a bit at the reception to convey that what he wants is to educate and bring new people into the hobby responsibly. From what I've been hearing they had very little say into anything for the first season and in fact barely even got paid. Supposedly they are in final negotiations on a season two and now have more pull, so I'm hoping he's legit and will try to influence things to find a way to balance entertainment with education. He spent a lot of time going around talking to vendors, reef web sites, etc. I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt because, like I said, given the amount of time he devoted to being at the show vs. the impact on the show's ratings just wouldn't make any sense. And the down to earth nature he showed and how eager he was to interact and meet everyone was encouraging. So, as the eternal optimist, I hope that the show can evolve into something that can help the hobby expand and portray it in a positive light.

Its not a bad show...i watch it every friday....they are funny....it would really make it more interesting if there was some education on how to start up and maintain a tank....whats the do's and don'ts...............btw last episode where they made a lawyers shark tank desk..i want to know what kind of sand that is? If anyone knows...........

So after watching and thinking about it these guys HAVE to be good at what they do. The rest is simply TV fluff. You don't become a large successful company if you're a schmuck. Especially with SW aquariums.

I don't know if they did or not but considering the fact that they are originally from NY and the timeline of Oddysea which isn't around anymore it's a pretty good bet that those guys built that. Just my opinion mind you.
We should email them and ask. I bet they answer all the emails. Someday if I ever have the money I'd like to have them custom make me a crazy tank and then I could do the maintenance myself. That would be so cool.

I would imagine that their customers have to have either those guys or whoever is in their local area do the maintenance etc. Just picture of one of those tanks with tons of Coraline and and aged sandbed. Plus other Algae and Cyano and all the other goodies we experience while the tank "matures" and then some. Just sayin' 
I do not think you would want to part with the money they get for their tanks. I had them quote me out a 84"x30"x27" and it was well over $4,500.00 for just the tank.
Might as well seal the entire cellar and fill it with saltwater as it would be cheaper.
