TDS meter question

myram

MAINEULTRACLASSIC
I bought a TDS handheld unit on Ebay for like $13, cheap enough to give it a shot.
It seems to read freshwater just fine, but as soon as I put it in saltwater it says error.

Do they have to be calibrated for freshwater or saltwater...........not both?

My well water is reading 185-190............not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

i dont think they do SW but not 100% on that

The TDS of saltwater should be way out of range for that meter. It would be pretty much meaningless in saltwater anyway.

My RO/DI system has the dual inline TDS meter already.

I was wanting to use the meter to test the water in my tank to see how it was doing.

My well water is at 185-190, the water coming out of my RO/DI system is at 0. So I just wanted to be able to test my tank water and see what it was at.
