The Reef Aquarium Vol. 3 - Should I read 1 and 2

I have noticed that one of the most recommended reference books for reef keeping is "The Reef Aquarium Vol. 3"

My questions are for anyone that has read all three books in the series.

Would I benefit from reading volumes 1 & 2 or would I be just reading outdating information that is covered and updated in Vol. 3? Should I read the first two and just keep in mind that they were written years ago?

1 and 2 are both great books, but 3 definately is the most comprehensive and it covers a lot of what's in 1 and 2.

What is in 1 and 2 that 3 lacks, is sections on ID and care for different types of corals, anemones and clams. Pretty much all the general concepts, equipment and system design stuff is covered the best in 3
